Kettlebells deliver an intense workout that can be completed in half the time of a traditional workout, because the exercises are both strength-building and cardio fitness-improving, helping you get powerfully lean (and not big, unless you're on steroids). Proper training and form is essential to get the greatest benefit and avoid injury.  Sarah Lurie and GoFit have teamed up to produce a complete packaged, DVD-driven solution for the Kettlebell phenomenon.  Sarah is a certified strength and conditioning coach (CSCS) sanctioned by the National Strength and Conditioning Association and she is a certified Russian Kettlebell Challenge Instructor. Lurie is a Girevoy (a Russian term) Sport Competitor and a Candidate for Master of Sports (CMS). CMS is the highest ranking a woman can achieve as a GS competitor.  Part of the GoFit Kettlebell package is an IRON CORE™ introductory Kettlebell DVD.

Each GoFit Kettlebell features vinyl coating to be kind to floors, (and your skin) powder-coated handles for a useful grip,  bright energetic colours and a wider, thicker ergonomic handle designed by Sarah Lurie from her extensive training experience.

Note:  Many kettlebells - typically plain steel - have rough and raspy surfaces.  Kettlebells frequently come in contact with skin, and can be unpleasant if they're not smooth as these are.  Handles also need to have sufficient grip, but also be smooth enough to make movement - and transitions between hands - flowing and easy.  There are also some attractive, inexpensive vinyl kettlebells in the local market from time to time.  They contain concrete.  The concrete crumbles.


How to choose a kettlebell size:

Most people are surprised at how demanding the moves are with a seemingly low weight.

Female:  no previous strength-building experience, smaller frame:  choose a 10lb kettlebell

               some previous experience, and/or normal frame           "        15lb

               very strong, trained (but not on kettlebells)                  "        20lb

Male:      no previous strength-building - start with a 15 or 20lb unit,

              otherwise 20 or 25lb for those will some strength-building experience.

    Beyond this, if you have a chance to pick up a dumbbell or two, lift one in front of you, to head height, and with both hands.     Do it a few times.  If this is just a little strain, you have the weight for a kettlebell to start with..

Being a little high or low in your choice of weight choice isn't a serious problem because concentration on form will give you the burn and development you need.
